Notes

'Feuerzauber' Japanese witch hazel (Hamamelis intermedia 'Feuerzauber') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its fragrant, copper orange-red petals open in winter and early spring. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The leaves also add fall color.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Common snowdrop, Springwood White tree heath, and Snow crocus.
