Notes

'Asessippi' lilac (Syringa hyacinthiflora 'Asessippi') is a shrub for borders and hedges, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The fragrant blooms open in spring and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It can reach about 10 to 12 feet tall and wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Hardy geranium, Artist tulip, and Clematis.
