Bacon avocado

Garden uses

Notes

'Bacon' avocado (Persea americana 'Bacon') is a tree for fruit production, shade, and use as a potted specimen. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun. It is grown for fresh eating, and the green fruit has medium-thin skin and ripens in December and January. Bacon is a B Type, so plant an A Type nearby for cross pollination.

Pairs well with Pink Lemonade blueberry, Fountain grass, and Calendula.
