Notes

'Barten' garden phlox (Phlox paniculata 'Barten') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It forms a clump of fragrant lilac-purple flowers with small white eyes. Blooms open from early to late summer and again in early autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit them.

Pairs well with Lanceleaf coreopsis, Little bluestem, Phantom panicle hydrangea, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
