Notes

'Beni-Maiko' Japanese maple (Acer palmatum 'Beni-Maiko') is a small tree for borders, containers, specimen plantings, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows slowly to about 4 to 6 feet tall and wide with a broad shape. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Bees and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Midwinter Fire common dogwood, Spring snowflake, and Great blue lobelia.
