Notes
'Bergman' Oriental spruce (Picea orientalis 'Bergman') is a tree for specimen planting, accent, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen shape that is drought tolerant once settled. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Mature height and spread are both about 24 to 36 inches.
Pairs well with Little bluestem, Prairie dropseed, Blazing star, and Tete-a-Tete daffodil.
