Notes
'Big Sombrero' peony (Paeonia 'Big Sombrero') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Yellow semi-double flowers with maroon flares open in early to late spring and face outward like a big hat. Nate Bremer bred it. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.
Pairs well with June hosta, Maltese cross, Greig's tulip, and Niobe clematis.
