Bishop's hat (Epimedium acuminatum) is a perennial for ground cover and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part to full shade and dry to average soil. It blooms in mid to late spring with purplish and white flowers. Plants reach 12 to 24 inches tall and wide, so they fill a shady spot well.

Pairs well with Wood lily, Lady in Red lady fern, and Deciduous azalea.
