Notes
'Black Spanish' fig (Ficus carica 'Black Spanish') is a dwarf fruit tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun. It is grown for fresh eating, preserves, and drying. The dark mahogany fruits are sweet, juicy, and firm. Pruning keeps the tree small, so it suits a container, and it bears best in the hottest spot you have.
Pairs well with Persimmon, Juneberry, Society garlic, and Fountain grass.
