Notes

'Blue Herald' common hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis 'Blue Herald') is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single flowers are soft veronica violet, open from early to late spring, and draw bees with their fragrance. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. P. Hopman & Zn. bred it.

Pairs well with Coral Sunset peony, Rainforest Sunrise hosta, and Smooth hydrangea.
