Notes

'Jan Bos' common hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis 'Jan Bos') is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Magenta-red flowers are fragrant and open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Greig's tulip, Dancing Queen hosta, and Blue grama.
