Notes

Hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis) is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in early to late spring and has a fragrant scent that bees enjoy. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Plant the bulbs in clumps for the best show.

Pairs well with Dutch crocus, Hosta, and Blue fescue.

Native range

Middle East and Central Asia.
