Notes
'Blue Jangles' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blue Jangles') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It sits low on the menu for deer. Blue flowers open from early to late summer and again in early autumn. Acidic soil with a pH of 4.5 to 5.5 keeps the blooms blue.
Pairs well with June hosta, Western sword fern, and Lenten rose.
