Notes

'Big Daddy' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Big Daddy') is a shrub for borders, containers, specimen planting, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a mounding, fast growing shrub that reaches 60 to 72 inches tall and wide. Acidic soil with a pH of 4.5 to 5.5 gives you blue flowers. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Patriot hosta, Aureola Japanese forest grass, Astilbe, and Lady fern.
