Notes

Blue stem goldenrod (Solidago caesia) is a perennial for woodland gardens, borders, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Arching sprays of tiny yellow flowers top its purplish stems in late summer and fall, and butterflies visit them. It is a small goldenrod and is not aggressive.

Pairs well with Blue star, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Red twig dogwood.
