Notes
Canadian goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, rain gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Tiny yellow flower heads sit on arching branches in long or flat-topped clusters. Bees and butterflies come for the nectar. Ragweed, which blooms at the same time, causes most hay fever blamed on goldenrod.
Pairs well with Aromatic aster, Indian grass, Prairie dropseed, and Brown-eyed Susan.
