Notes

Bottlebrush sedge (Carex hystericina) is a grass for meadow plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and moist to wet soil. It grows up to 36 inches tall and bears green and brown flowers in late spring and early summer. You will find it in wet meadows, along streams, and in marshes in the wild, so give it a damp spot in your garden.

Pairs well with Royal fern, American mountain mint, and Stiff goldenrod.
