Breda Giant common medlar

Notes

'Breda Giant' common medlar (Crataegus germanica 'Breda Giant') is a tree for specimen planting, fruit, and spring blossoms. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun. The brown fruits ripen in fall, but you wait to pick them until frost or storage softens them. Large, sweet fruit comes in abundant crops. The tree is self fertile, so one tree can bear fruit alone, and its fall foliage adds color.

Pairs well with Panicle hydrangea, Snowdrop, and Cat mint.
