Notes

'Marron' common medlar (Crataegus germanica 'Marron') is a tree for fruit, specimen planting, and spring blossoms. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun. It stays naturally compact at 8 to 10 feet tall. The chestnut brown fruits ripen in fall, but they are grown for eating only after bletting, when frost or storage turns them soft and wrinkly. It is self fertile, so one tree gives you a crop.

Pairs well with Apple, Honeyberry, Snowdrop, and Cinnamon fern.
