Notes

'Briotii' red horse chestnut (Aesculus carnea 'Briotii') is a tree for specimen planting, shade, and low maintenance landscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deep pink flowers open in upright panicles in mid spring, and bees and hummingbirds visit them. Give it room in a medium to large garden or open landscape, since it grows about 35 feet high and wide.

Pairs well with Canadian hemlock, Endless Summer hydrangea, Toad lily, and Sedge.
