Notes

Canadian hemlock (Tsuga canadensis) is an evergreen tree for specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Give it good drainage and shelter from strong, drying winds. Regular pruning keeps it restrained as a hedge. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with American beech, Cinnamon fern, Winterberry, and Patriot hosta.
