Notes

Broadleaf sedge (Carex platyphylla) is a grass for borders and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil. The blue-green leaves stay evergreen and form a slow-growing clump up to 15 inches tall. Small flowers appear in early to late spring. Deer tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Red trillium, Cinnamon fern, and Serviceberry.
