Notes

Broom sedge (Carex scoparia) is a grass for rain gardens, pond edges, and naturalizing. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun or part shade and moist to wet soil. It grows up to 36 inches tall and keeps green foliage through the season. Small blooms appear in mid to late spring and again in early to late summer. It suits swampy spots and lakeshores.

Pairs well with Lizard's tail, Marginal wood fern, and Michigan lily.
