Notes

Butterfly amaryllis (Hippeastrum papilio) is a bulb for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The greenish white petals carry burgundy stripes. It is a little harder to get to rebloom than the hybrids, so it rewards patience.

Pairs well with Bird of paradise, Silver squill, and Creme de Cassis dahlia.
