Notes

'Royal Velvet' amaryllis (Hippeastrum 'Royal Velvet') is a bulb for borders, containers, and specimen or accent plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Each 24 inch stem holds an umbel of 3 to 4 deep red to purple flowers that are 8 inches across. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Ludwig & Co. bred it.

Pairs well with Balloon flower, Perennial candytuft, and Mondo grass.
