Notes

'Calumet' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Calumet') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in early to mid spring with brilliant red single flowers. The tall, upright plant has stiff stems that hold the blooms well. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Gooseneck loosestrife, Dalmatian bellflower, and Ostrich fern.
