Notes

'Carnaval' Japanese pieris (Pieris japonica 'Carnaval') is a shrub for borders, containers, specimen planting, and foundation planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It is an evergreen with a dense habit and fragrant flowers that bees and butterflies visit. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows slowly and prefers acid soil.

Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Lady fern, and Korean spice viburnum.
