Notes

'Carnival' peony (Paeonia 'Carnival') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The fragrant blooms are carmine-pink and open from spring into early summer. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Butterflies visit the flowers, and Elizabeth Glasscock Falk bred it.

Pairs well with Jeana garden phlox, Earth Angel hosta, Korean spice viburnum, and Stargazer lily.
