Notes

Carolina azalea (Rhododendron minus) is a shrub for borders, shade gardens, woodland settings, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to moist, loamy soil. Broad, funnel-shaped flowers range from white to pale bluish-pink and open in large clusters after the leaves. The thick, dark-green leaves turn purplish in winter.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Lady fern, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Green and gold.
