Notes
'Cherry Cordial' avens (Geum 'Cherry Cordial') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy or loamy soil. Red flowers open in spring and again in summer, and butterflies and bees visit them. It grows 9 to 12 inches tall and 6 to 9 inches wide. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Blue fescue, Sarah Bernhardt peony, and Halcyon hosta.
