'Chi Lai De Ai' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Chi Lai De Ai') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Early in spring, it bears fragrant, double, light purple flowers that face upward. The woody stems are hardy and not easily damaged by wind. Plants reach about 70 cm (27.5") at maturity.
