Notes
'Cityline Rio' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Cityline Rio') is a shrub for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays compact at 24 to 36 inches tall and wide, and it tolerates salt. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It blooms from early to late summer.
Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Astilbe, Japanese forest grass, and Autumn fern.
