Notes

Cleveland sage (Salvia clevelandii) is a shrub for borders, xeriscapes, and low maintenance gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. Dark blue-violet flowers attract bees and hummingbirds, and the gray leaves are fragrant. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Prune off old flower stalks in fall.

Pairs well with Eastern mojave buckwheat, White sagebrush, and Jerusalem sage.
