Notes

'Coccineus' thyme (Thymus praecox 'Coccineus') is a creeping perennial for rock gardens, containers, borders, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy soil. Fragrant, evergreen foliage forms a low mat, and blooms open from early to late summer. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Yarrow, Rock rose, and Feather reed grass.
