Notes

Common hop (Humulus lupulus) is a vine for privacy screens, specimen planting, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, loamy or chalky soil. It grows rapidly and can reach 15 to 20 feet tall, and butterflies visit it. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. In the wild it climbs on trees and shrubs along riverbanks.

Pairs well with Boston ivy, Ostrich fern, and Purple loosestrife.
