Notes
'Compacta' boxwood (Buxus microphylla 'Compacta') is a shrub for borders, hedges, foundation plantings, and formal gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen mound that stays 6 to 12 inches tall and wide. Greenish-white flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with Hicksii yew, Halcyon hosta, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Eden rose.
