Notes

'Confucius' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Confucius') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double flowers are scarlet or deep pink, and they make a bold show in the garden. You can cut the blooms to bring indoors. John Standish introduced it in 1855.

Pairs well with Francee hosta, Christmas fern, Black Parrot tulip, and Heather.
