Notes

'Cottenham Seedling' apple (Malus domestica 'Cottenham Seedling') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Robert Norman bred it, and Mr Gautrey introduced it in 1924. The apples are grown for cooking, and the fruit keeps for 3 months or more. Bees visit the spring blooms, and you will need a second apple tree nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Chokeberry, Hyssop, and Blue fescue.
