Notes

'Countess' peony (Paeonia 'Countess') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen plantings, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Dusky yellow blooms with red shading open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Butterflies visit the flowers, and A.P. Saunders introduced it in 1941.

Pairs well with Blue star, Blue Angel hosta, Lily, and Greig's tulip.
