Notes

'Covey' Texas redbud (Cercis canadensis 'Covey') is a tree for specimen plantings, borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Lavender pink flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies and bees. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. This tree has a multi-stemmed habit and a moderate growth rate.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Amsonia, and Autumn fern.
