Notes

'Crown Prince' peony (Paeonia 'Crown Prince') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Its fragrant, purplish red blooms measure 6 to 7 inches and sit on strong stems above glossy green foliage. A flat collar of petals surrounds a bomb-like center edged in bright yellow.

Pairs well with Hosta, Dittany, Blue grama, and Picture tulip.
