Notes

'Delaware Chief' peony (Paeonia 'Delaware Chief') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Fat buds open into 6½ inch balls of rose-red petals with a spicy fragrance, and the dark green foliage lasts well into summer. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Annabelle hydrangea, Moonshine yarrow, and Nodding onion.
