Notes

'Desire Red' sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Desire Red') is an annual for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The plant grows fast, stands erect, and tolerates drought once it settles in.

Pairs well with Cotton Candy cosmos, Jewel nasturtium, and Red fescue.
