Notes
'Distinction' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Distinction') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type flowers are violet-red with golden-yellow stripes. They open in early summer on plants that reach about 24 to 31 inches tall. Alonzo B. Franklin bred it.
Pairs well with Nepeta, Pincushion flower, Sedge, and Black Hero tulip.
