Notes
'Double Down' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Double Down') is a shrub for small gardens, containers, and shady borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade. Its double mophead flowers bloom and rebloom through summer on old and new wood. The blooms are blue in acid soils and pink in more alkaline soils. It stays compact and rounded, so it fits small spaces.
Pairs well with Lady fern, Mountain laurel, and Snowdrop.
