Notes

'Duke of Devonshire' apple (Malus domestica 'Duke of Devonshire') is a tree for the food garden, grown for its russeted fruit with a fruity flavor. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms in early to late spring and attracts bees. Like most russet apples, it is easy to grow and has good natural disease resistance. Mr Wilson, the 'Duke of Devonshire''s gardener, bred it in 1835.

Pairs well with Honeyberry, Hyssop, and Switchgrass.
