Notes

Early goldenrod (Solidago juncea) is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is the earliest goldenrod to bloom, and its yellow flowers draw butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Plants reach 2 to 4 feet tall, so place them toward the back of a border.

Pairs well with Indian grass, White snakeroot, Nodding onion, and New Jersey tea.
