Notes

'Elvira' red-hot poker (Kniphofia 'Elvira') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Orange flower spikes appear in spring, summer, and autumn, and butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Shasta daisy, Common milkweed, and Kentucky bluegrass.
