Notes

'Royal Standard' red-hot poker (Kniphofia 'Royal Standard') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Red flowers sit on top and yellow flowers sit below, and they open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Hummingbird's mint, Kentucky bluegrass, and Autumn fern.
