Notes
'Alcazar' red-hot poker (Kniphofia 'Alcazar') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Its tall flower spikes bloom in summer and again in autumn, and they draw butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It also tolerates drought and salt.
Pairs well with Feuerland yarrow, Waltraut sneezeweed, and Purple top.
